Canceling Policy

You may cancel your policy at any time and for any reason by providing a written notice* IN ADVANCE OF the requested cancellation date to Midstate Mutual. Your agent will have the appropriate form to be filled out, called a Lost Policy Release. You should retain your policy in your permanent records even after it is canceled. If prior written notice is not possible, it must be received within 5 business days of the effective date of cancellation.

If your premium is not subject to audit (policies for which premiums are based on payroll, receipts or other estimated basis), the pro-rata unused premium will be returned to you, either directly or via your agent or mortgage escrow account, as applicable.

If your premium is subject to audit, we may defer returning unused premium to you until after we have received an audit report from you as to the actual amount of payroll/receipts/other developed while the policy was in force.

*In no event will a cancellation notice be valid if given over the telephone or by email. Your signature is always required
